Summit of the Future No 36: Rev 1 of Declaration on Future Generations – Virtual stakeholder briefing

The Co-facilitators for the Declaration on Future Generations, Ambassadors Yoka M G Brandt of the Netherlands and Brian Wallace of Jamaica have sent a letter convening a virtual stakeholder briefing.

It will be held on 12 June 2024 from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon New York time and will take place after the reading of Rev 1 on 10 June, giving  an opportunity for the Co-facilitators to “provide stakeholders with an  update on the intergovernmental process and receive their feedback.”

Summit of the Future No 34: Rev 1 of the Declaration on Future Generations released

Together with their letter of 31 May 2024, Ambassadors Yoka Brandt of the Netherlands and Brian Wallace of Jamaica, made available Rev 1 of the Declaration on Future Generations (DOFG) and its Explanatory Note.

In their letter, the Co-facilitators say that Rev 1 of the DOFG has been “carefully crafted to reflect the collective insights, written inputs, general comments, and interventions made by Member States to date.”

Summit of the Future No 33: Roadmap for negotiations on Rev 1 of the Pact for the Future, up to 2-3 July

As set out in the letter from the Cofacilitators on Rev 1 of the Pact for the Future, dated 14 May, the order for the negotiations on the Chapters in the document will be as follows: Chapters 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 – 4.

The negotiations began at the Ambassadorial level on 28 May “in response to the request for regular dialogue between permanent representatives on this crucial process.” During this meeting delegations were invited to make general comments with time limits of 5 minutes for groups and 3 minutes for those in a national capacity.

In their letter of 23 May 2024, Ambassadors Antje Leendertse and Neville M Gertze, Co-facilitators for the Pact for the Future invite all stakeholders, including Major Groups and other Stakeholders (MGoS) and civil society representatives, to participate in a virtual consultation on 30 May, from 10.00 am to 1 pm.
