Decisions of Commission on Population and Development and Commission on Status of Women concerning ICPD+30 and Beijing+30

In 2022 the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) and the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) passed respective resolutions on the next five-year reviews of the ICPD Programme of Action (2024) and the Beijing Platform for Action (2025). Both have strong linkages to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and support national and regional level related review processes. Summaries of the contents of each are set out below.

50th session of the UN Statistical Commission opens in New York [Posting 1]

SRHR in the 62nd CSW session Agreed Conclusions

There has been some discussion about the Agreed conclusions on “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls, adopted at the end of the 62nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women in March 2017. While the original draft did include sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in its wording, this was removed before the final text was agreed. Challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls: review theme for 61st session of the Commission on Status of Women focuses on the 2030 Agenda

The Report of the Secretary-General for the Review theme for the 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) on the challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for women and girls (Agreed conclusions of 58th session) has a strong focus on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the sustainable development goals (SDGs). It includes information received from Member States; the Secretary-General’s report on progress towards the sustainable development goals (SDGs); and voluntary national reports (VNRs) submitted to the high-level political forum (HLPF).
