Civil society participation in the Summit of the Future

The resolution setting out the modalities for the Summit of the Future (SOTF) (A/RES/76/307) includes provisions multistakeholder participation in the Summit. 

Organizations not in consultative status 

Organizations, not in consultative status with ECOSOC, were invited to apply to participate as observers. The deadline for which is now passed. The President of the General Assembly has drawn up a list of representatives of such relevant non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions and the private sector wishing to participate. It has been circulated to Member States for consideration on a ‘non-objection basis’ and the list has been adopted, as initially suggested, by the General Assembly. The list is available here.

Organizations in consultative status

Organizations in consultative status will be automatically invited to participate.

Information on how to register will be posted here, as soon as it becomes available, so please check back in the coming days.

Participation in the Summit

Stakeholders will be invited to participate in interactive dialogues that will be held in parallel with the plenary meetings during the Summit. Youth organizations, in particular, are encouraged to participate, including in the opening segment. Again, further information will be posted as it becomes available.
