[Webinar]: 2020 Targets: Renewing Commitments and Galvanizing Action, 6 July 12:00 - 16:00 (EDT, NY time)

An open letter on priorities for the upcoming negotiations on the post-2015 development agenda has been issued by 18 of the 27 members of the UN Secretary-General's former High-level Panel (HLP) of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, including two of its three Co-Chairs.
The HLP report called for five "transformative shifts" to underpin the post-2015 development agenda
The High-Level Panel in its illustrative goal 2 called for a target to end child marriage. The UNFPA proposals for the post-2015 development framework also call for prevention and elimination of sexual coercion and violence against women, including child marriage.
Last month the UN Human Rights Council adopted Resolution 24/23 on the subject of child, early and forced marriage. It requests the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to prepare a report on “preventing and eliminating child, early and forced marriage, with a particular focus on challenges, achievements, best practices and implementation gaps” to be presented to the Council at its 26th session in June 2014. This report will also inform the panel discussion that will be held at that session on the same subject. This report can contribute to the inclusion of child, early and forced marriage into the post-2015 development agenda.
On the 31st of May the report of the High Level Panel “A New Global Partnership: Eradicate Poverty and Transform Economies through Sustainable Development” was launched. Here are some of the statements and responses to the report:

There are less than two days to go to the release of the report of the UN Secretary General’s High Level Panel which will make specific recommendations for the Post-2015 Development Agenda. Meanwhile, UN Women has circulated a a note entitled, Stand-Alone Goal on Achieving Gender Equality, Women’s Rights and Women’s Empowerment: Imperatives and Key Components in the context of the Post-2015 Framework and Sustainable Development Goals.
In a recent International Center for Research on Women blog entry, Adolescent Girls are Critical to post-2015 Agenda, Suzanne Petroni argues that it does not go far enough and that sexual health and rights have been ‘left off the table altogether’.
The report of the High-Level Panel (HLP) will be handed over to the UN Secretary General on the 30 May, and will be made public on the 31st May. The following information is provided on the High-Level Panel website.
