Initiatives for SDG Implementation – ECOSOC briefing

As part of its dialogue on the longer-term positioning of the UN development system in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) a briefing held a briefing at the end of 2015, in which Helen Clark, Chair of the UN Development Group (UNDG) and Administrator of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), Wu Hongbo, Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, and Mahmoud Mohieldin, World Bank Group participated.

Over a 18-month period the ECOSOC dialogue process, which consists of both formal and informal sessions, is expected to be a key input to the quadrennial comprehensive policy review of operational activities for development of the UN system (QCPR), to be issued in August 2016. Partnerships with Civil Society – summary report of UNDG high-level global meeting

As reported by IISD, the UN Development Group (UNDG) has released a summary report of its high-level global meeting, held in Siem Reap, Cambodia on 20-21 October 2014, on ‘Partnerships with Civil Society.' This meeting was the culmination of eight national consultations held in Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Lesotho, Tunisia and Saint Lucia, as well as an e-discussion on the topic. The report addresses ways in which civil society can inform the elaboration of the post-2015 development agenda; engage in its implementation; and help to enhance national policy formulation.

UNDG Announces Second Round of Post-2015 Consultations

As reported by the iisd Reporting Services, the UN's One Secretariat on Post-2015 has announced a new round of consultations on the post-2015 development agenda. These will take place from January to December 2014 and will include national, regional and global discussions, and place emphasis on "how to make the agenda work."
