Summit 4: follow up to post-2015 negotiations in September

The Summit, 25-27 September, at which Heads of State and Government will adopt Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, will begin ten days after the opening of the 70^th Session of the UN General Assembly. Pope Francis will deliver a statement on the morning of 25 September immediately before it opens. The Summit will include six interactive dialogues: Ending poverty and hunger; Tackling inequalities, empowering women and girls and leaving no one behind; Fostering sustainable economic growth, transformation and promoting sustainable consumption and production; Protecting our planet and combating climate change; Building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions to achieve sustainable development; and Delivering on a revitalized Global Partnership. Many other side events are expected to take place , including the ‘Solutions Summit’ on 27 September.

Summit 3: Plenary to transmit Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to the Summit, 1 September 2015

The President of the General Assembly has written to announce that a plenary meeting of the General Assembly will be held on 1 September at 10.00 to take action on a draft resolution to transmit the outcome document Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda) for adoption during the Summit. 

It is probable that some groups or member states will give explanations of their vote, or may make reservations. As the intergovernmental negotiations were informal there are no official records and the Secretary read out, at the request of Ambassador Macharia Kamau, Co-facilitator during the final session, the process for making reservations. They can also be made in writing. It is important to note that they will not be attached to the 2030 Agenda itself.

The Organizing Committee warmly invites you to submit abstracts on 8 APCRSHR. The topics may include the latest, state-of-the-art research, policy and programme evidence, service delivery systems, advocacy and communication efforts on the different elements of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) especially with respect to the most vulnerable populations with an emphasis on equity, inclusiveness and rights.

The selection of oral presentations and posters for presentation will be based on the quality of submissions and their relevance to the conference tracks (Track 1: Laws and Policies, Track 2: Governance and Accountability, Track 3: Financing, Track 4: SRH integrating in Health Services, and Track 5: Others).

Unless informed otherwise, the deadline for the UN Summit registration remains Monday, 24 August 2015.

IAEG-SDGs: Stakeholder registration open for 2nd Meeting on SDGs Indicators in Bangkok, 26-28 October 2015

UN DESA Statistics Division is organizing the Second Meeting of the Inter-agency and Expert Group on the Sustainable Development Goal Indicators, to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 26-28 October 2015. The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific has graciously offered to host the meeting. The IAEG-SDGs was established by the Statistical Commission at its 46th session to develop an indicator framework for the monitoring of the goals and targets of the post-2015 development agenda at the global level, and to support its implementation.
