2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development highlighted as “Crowning Achievement” of 69th session of General Assembly

As reported by IIED, The President, Sam Kutesa of Uganda, and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon reflected on the achievements of the 69th session of the General Assembly at its final meeting on 14 September. If an organization received approval of accreditation to the Summit, it does not mean that the organization will receive passes to attend the Summit....

Summit 13: Approval of civil society organizations for accreditation for the Summit

The President of the General Assembly (PGA) has circulated the list of organizations not in consultative status that have been approved for accreditation for the Summit.

The list of those organizations that have consultative status and have been accredited for the Summit is also available. 

As pointed in a previous posting, there will be an allocation of tickets to attend the various meetings, including the interactive dialogues.

Summit 11: Organizational Arrangements for the Plenary and Interactive Dialogues during the Summit for Post-2015 Development Agenda

Ambassador Arthur Kafeero, Chef de Cabinet to the President of the General Assembly (PGA), gave a briefing for Member States and Observers on 4 September 2015, on the organizational arrangements for the United Nations summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda. The Chef de Cabinet of the PGA-elect, Mr. Tomas Christensen, and members of his team, were also present, together with the Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Post-2015 Development Planning, Ms. Amina Mohammed, and other colleagues from the Secretariat. The briefing was to provide an update additional information on arrangements for the plenary and the interactive dialogues during the Summit, to be held from 25-27 September, 2015...

Summit 10: Civil society speakers selected for UN Sustainable Development Summit

We are pleased to share that 24 representatives of civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations and the Major Groups have been selected to speak during the UN Sustainable Development Summit. These speakers were identified through an open, transparent and participatory process involving a civil society Selection Committee, facilitated by UN-NGLS in cooperation with UN DESA, at the request of the Office of the President of the General Assembly. The civil society Selection Committee created a short-list of 80 candidates from 435 applications received, and the President of the General Assembly made the final selection of a diverse set of speakers for this historic Summit to adopt the post-2015 development agenda.
