Apply to attend Paris Climate Change Agreement ratification event at UN Headquarters (21 September, 8:00-9:00am)

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has invited leaders from all  countries to attend a special event on 21 September 2016 at UN  Headquarters in New York from 8:00-9:00am to deposit their instruments  of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession to the Paris  Agreement on climate change. The event will also provide an opportunity  to other countries to publicly commit to joining or ratifying the  agreement before the end of 2016. The agreement will enter into force 30  days after at least 55 countries, accounting for 55 per cent of global  greenhouse gas emissions, deposit their instruments of ratification or  acceptance with the Secretary-General. It is expected that the September  event will help efforts to secure early entry into force of the  agreement.

4th meeting of the IAEG-SDGs – further information

As referred to previously, the fourth meeting of the Interagency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goals (IAEG-SDGs) will be held at the ECA Conference Centre, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 18-21 October 2016. CSO representatives wishing to attend or to become a member of the Selection Committee, (See: 4th Meeting of IAEG-SDGs, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 20-21 October 2016, applications to attend)

It should be noted that 18-19 October will be a Members meeting. And 20-21 October will be a plenary session. Country representatives and other stakeholders that are not IAEG-SDG Members should only plan to attend the plenary session...

UN SG’s report on implementation of key processes for 2030 Agenda

The UN Secretary-General’s report for the 71st session of the General Assembly on the implementation of key processes related to sustainable development is now available. (A/71/212) It will be discussed by the Second Committee (Economic and Financial) as part of its substantive work in October and November 2016.

MY World 2030 – Collecting Data to Mobilize Dialogue

As reported by IISD, the next phase of MY World, called MY World 2030, has been launched by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Action campaign, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) and UN Global Pulse. It will support efforts to report on progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and mobilize and build dialogue among decision-makers.
