4th meeting of the IAEG-SDGs – further information

As referred to previously, the fourth meeting of the Interagency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goals (IAEG-SDGs) will be held at the ECA Conference Centre, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 18-21 October 2016. CSO representatives wishing to attend or to become a member of the Selection Committee, (See: 4th Meeting of IAEG-SDGs, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 20-21 October 2016, applications to attend)

It should be noted that 18-19 October will be a Members meeting. And 20-21 October will be a plenary session. Country representatives and other stakeholders that are not IAEG-SDG Members should only plan to attend the plenary session...

The meeting will consider updates on:

  • Outcomes of ECOSOC and HLPF on SDG indicators and follow-up and review
  • Work of the High-Level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
  • Work on the three working groups on IAEG-SDGs, SDMX, and Geo-spatial information and interlinkages. 

They will also discuss:

  • Presentation of the finalized tier system
  • Review of plans for Tier III indicators 
  • Refinement of indicators and revisions of the indicator framework
  • Data flows from NSS to the international statistical systems
  • Review of proposals of development of indicators that currently do not have an agency involved in their development
  • Work plans on data disaggregation and discussion of strategies and best practices for increasing the levels of disaggregation for SDG indicators
  • Household surveys as a source of data for the SDGs (To be organized possibly as a special session or side-event)
  • Presentation of IAEG-SDGs work plan and next steps
