Summit of the Future No 25: Preparatory process for the Summit of the Future – letter from co-facilitators to UN New York ambassadors

Ambassadors Antje Leendertse and Nevill Gertze, co-facilitators for the Summit of the Future, wrote to the other Ambassadors in New York on 4 April 2024, about the preparatory process for the Summit of the Future. The letter informed them that the second reading of the Pact for the Future concluded on 3 April, with it having “deepened understanding between delegations and fostered convergence on many issues.”

Summit of the Future No 24: Declaration on Future Generations Zero Draft – good news on Stakeholder and Civil Society participation

An email has been received by Commat from one of the advisers to the co-facilitators for the Declaration on Future Generations, reiterating that a broad consultative process has been underway since January “to garner the oral and written inputs for the zero draft from a wide range of stakeholder groups.”

Summit of the Future No 20: 2024 United Nations Civil Society Conference, Nairobi, Kenya, 9 -10 May 2024 – website launched

DEADLINE FOR REGISTERING FOR CONFERENCE – TOMORROW,  26 MARCH, 5pm NEW YORK TIME 

The UN Department of Global Communications has launched the website for the 2024 UN Civil Society Conference “Shaping a Future of Global and Sustainable Progress”. The Conference will be held in Nairobi, Kenya on 9 – 10 May and will provide civil society organizations (CSOs) with an opportunity for multi-stakeholder engagement ahead of the Summit of the Future (SOTF) and a venue for them to participate in the preparatory process. In addition it will give CSOs an additional platform to speak out and share ideas that could contribute to future Pact for the Future negotiations.
