2030 Agenda data and indicators discussion at the Statistical Commission

For consideration of data and indicators for the 2030 Agenda, the UN Statistical Commission (UNSC) had before it: the Report of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group (IAEG); the Report of the High Level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for Statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; and the Report of the Secretary-General on the work for the review of progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals as well as a number of other background documents. Also to be discussed was the draft resolution on the work of UNSC pertaining to 2030 Agenda. This was circulated in an informal paper.

As requested by the General Assembly resolution 70/1 on 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the President of ECOSOC will convene the meetings of the STI forum once a year to discuss science, technology and innovation cooperation around thematic areas for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The General Assembly also decided that the meetings of the forum will be co-chaired by two Member States and will result in a summary of discussions elaborated by the two co-Chairs...

Call for Innovations - 2017 Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation

The second annual Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum) will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on 15-16 May 2017.

In preparation for the Forum, a Global Call for Innovations is launched with the aim of finding scientific and technological innovations that are helping accelerate progress towards any one or more of the six SDGs that are the focus of the STI Forum 2017. The Call for Innovations will highlight solutions from diverse sources and communities, originating in different parts of the world, and focus on those technologies that aim to help the poorest and most vulnerable...
