Fifth session of IAEG-SDGs – update on decisions of 48th session of the UN Statistical Commission (2)

The 48th session of the UNSC agreed the revised global indicator framework, including the refinements of several of the indicators. The global indicator framework is for Global follow-up and review. Alternative or complementary indicators will be developed at the regional, national and sub-national levels.

Apply for ECOSOC consultative status now in order to be considered by the 2018 NGO Committee

1 June 2017 is the last day for Non-Governmental Organizations to apply for consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), in order to have an opportunity to take part in UN deliberations. ECOSOC consultative status is governed by ECOSOC resolution 1996/31, which outlines the eligibility requirements for consultative status, rights and obligations of NGOs in consultative status, procedures for the withdrawal or suspension of consultative status, the role and functions of the ECOSOC Committee on NGOs, and the responsibilities of the UN Secretariat in supporting the consultative relationship. Consultative status is granted by ECOSOC upon recommendation of the Committee on NGOs, which is composed of Member States.

Report on the fifth session of the IAEG-SDGs

Starting today we are putting up a series of posts on the fifth session of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on the Sustainable Development Goals Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) was held in Ottawa, Canada from 28 – 31 March 2017.

Apply for 8-9 May Thematic Session in Geneva & Stakeholder Steering Committee: UNGA preparatory process for a global compact for migration

At the request of the Office of the President of the General Assembly, UN-NGLS, UN DESA, UN University, and the UN Global Compact, with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), are facilitating the participation of the stakeholders listed above in the informal interactive multi-stakeholder hearings and the six informal thematic sessions of the preparatory process for a global compact on migration. Stakeholder Speakers Selected for UN PGA's High-level SDG Financing Lab - 18 April 2017 at UNHQ

At the request of the Office of the President of the General Assembly (OPGA), UN-NGLS facilitated a process to identify civil society and social entrepreneur speakers for the High-level SDG Financing Lab, taking place 18 April at UN Headquarters. UN-NGLS facilitated a Stakeholder Selection Committee to review applications for the speaking roles and create a regionally and gender balanced short-list of candidates for the President of the General Assembly to consider.
