The submission of written statements for the sixtieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW60) is now open through CSO-Net. The deadline for submission is 16 October 2015. Statements sent by e-mail cannot be accepted.

‘Small steps in the right direction but future financing for sexual and reproductive health must be sustainable’

5th October 2015, Lima, Peru: Ahead of the 2015 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG), IPPF warns that future financing for sexual and reproductive must be prioritized by the WBG and must be sustainable. 

IPPF welcomes new data from the WBG that shows that the WBG’s spending has increased from 14 per cent in 2014 to 18 per cent of the total health portfolio allocated to reproductive health in 2015. In real terms, this is an increase from US$ 265 million in 2014 to $642 million that the WBG has invested in reproductive health in 2015.

Summit 22: Youth Statement On The 2030 Agenda For Sustainable Development

On 25-27 September, the world’s governments will adopt the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. During the past fifteen years, the Millennium Development Goals have strongly contributed to creating a better world. However, even though we have come very far in the process, we are not there yet. The 2030 Agenda offers an opportunity for a better future, in which we have a greater chance to tackle current and upcoming challenges. 

The agenda sets out a list of ambitious goals and targets across broad areas of sustainable development, including poverty eradication, health, inclusive economic growth, sustainable use of ecosystems, and promotion of peaceful societies. We have learned from previous experiences that it is easier to set targets than to achieve them. While the adoption of the agenda is an important achievement, governments must take ambitious action to implement the agenda. As young people we want to take an active role in this crucial process.
