Position Paper on Population Dynamics posted on Beyond 2015 Website  

The Position Paper on Population Dynamics has been posted on the Beyond 2015 website.

It recognizes that population dynamics and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) will have a major impact on the post-2015 development agenda and the achievement of socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable economic development. It discusses population growth; migration; urbanization; population density; and age structures, and associated with the latter, young and older people. Furthermore it recognizes that population dynamics should be addressed in ways that respect and protect human rights.

Information on CSOs Forum and Outreach Session of the High Level Panel of Eminent Persons, Bali 23th to 25th March 2013 and the Bali Youth Multi-stakeholders Meeting on the Post-2015 Development Agenda

Applications are now open to national, regional, and global CSOs who want to participate in the upcoming CSOs Outreach and Consultation Day during the Fourth UN High Level Panel Meeting on Post-2015 to be held in Bali, Indonesia from 25 -27 March 2013 under the theme of: “Global Partnership”.

24 March CSOs Pre-Consultative Forum on March 24th  2013,  with 150 participants (50 International and 100 Indonesian) CSOs will also use this platform to review outcomes of various CSOs engagements that have taken place.

First Announcement -- Stakeholder Outreach Events at the 4th High Level Panel (HLP) meeting on the Post 2015 Development Agenda in Bali, 25 March 2013

Information has been made available on the fourth consultative meeting of the High Level Panel in Bali, Indonesia from 25 to 27 March 2013. The discussions of the Panel in Bali, Indonesia will focus on Partnership and Cooperation for Development, with a focus on strategies for implementation and opportunities to shape a global consensus on the new development agenda.

Update on Population Dynamics Thematic Consultation, 14 February 2014

There are four on-going e-discussions for the Population Dynamics Thematic Consultation on:

  • How can we ensure a human-rights based and gender-responsive approach to addressing population dynamics?
  • Should we consider expanding targets with respect to individual population issues to include such issues as high fertility, demographic bonus, ageing, urbanization, or migration? What would be the disadvantage of broadening the set of targets?
  • Is it possible to develop a common framework for integrating different population dynamics into the post-2015 development agenda?
  • Why and how should population dynamics be integrated into the post-2015 development agenda?

If you haven’t yet responded to the Civil Society ICP Global Survey, please do so before 19 February.

It is important in responding to the Survey that you complete all areas marked *, otherwise they do not stay in the database. You do not, however, have to complete all the substantive questions --  you need only answer those in which you have expertise. And, then please make sure you enter submit at the end.

High-level Leadership Meeting on Addressing Inequalities – Update 12 February  

 The High-level Leadership Meeting on Addressing Inequalities will take place in Copenhagen on 18-19 February 2013.

On 18 February there will be a public dialogue, which will be livestreamed on the World We Want 2015 website (www.worldwewant2015.org/inequalities) Online participants may submit questions to the panel in advance using the Twitter hashtag #inequalities2015. They may also be submitted by email in advance to inequalities@worldwewant2015.org before the deadline of: Friday, 15 February 2013.

MY World – Have you voted?

My World is a United Nations global survey for citizens. Working with its partners, including the World Wide Web Foundation and the Overseas Development Institute, it provides an opportunity to vote for six out of a list of 16 priorities to inform the world’s leaders as they define the next set of global goals to end poverty. Sexual and reproductive health is not included in the list, but there is a space at the end where it can be written in. Results were submitted to the High Level Panel at their meeting in Monrovia and it is likely that they will also be submitted to the next meeting in Bali.
