HLPF Weekly Update 1 - Wednesday, 13 May

Below are the current UN HLPF announcements relevant to the Major Groups and other Stakeholders. In future weeks, any headings which include new information will be marked with [update] for ease of reference. Thank you for your patience while we adapt to the new challenges in preparation for the 2020 HLPF.

HLPF Format

The format for the 2020 HLPF will most likely be virtual and the preparations will proceed accordingly. When any new information is available, it will be communicated via this email list and in the ‘Latest’ column of the HLPF 2020 website: https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/hlpf/2020. Due to the current stay at home orders, at present there is no funding to travel to the HLPF.

Registration

The HLPF meeting will have registered participants who will be able to attend the virtual meetings. Others will be able to follow the meeting through UN Web TV (http://webtv.un.org/) or YouTube. Further details on the key dates and process will be shared soon.

New Stakeholders Webpage

We have created a webpage to provide information to the Major Groups and other Stakeholders (MGoS) on engagement and participation at the 2020 HLPF. We hope that this page will provide a simple step-by-step guide for new participants, as well as a resource for recent documentation specific to the 2020 HLPF: https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/hlpf/2020#stakeholders

Ministerial Declaration

All documentation can be found in the Library section of the Stakeholders, 2020 HLPF website. This includes the Draft Outline – Structure of the HLPF Ministerial Declaration 2020. Three meetings of informal consultations will take place on the dates below. Details of means of engagement will be shared when available. The intention is for the draft declaration to then be placed under silence procedure.
