UHC High-Level Meeting: Get Involved Now

We are writing to make sure you saw the important deadlines coming up in March that will help lay the groundwork for the High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage, which will take place on 23 September 2019 at the UN Headquarters in New York City. 

1. Make sure your organization is eligible to register – Deadline: 3 March

Before you can claim your seat at the table, you need to get your foot in the door. If your organization wants to attend the High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage or the preparatory multi-stakeholder hearing on 29 April, you must apply for accreditation before Sunday, 3 March. If your organization is not granted accreditation, you will not be able to register for either event. Full details can be found here. 

2. Help shape the meeting’s priorities and calls to action – Deadline: 10 March

• Complete this survey to comment on UHC2030’s draft consolidated “Asks” to inform the High-Level Meeting political declaration. This survey is open to anyone. Deadline: 10 March. 
• Civil society organizations are also encouraged to fill out a second, complementary CSO survey led by UHC2030’s Civil Society Engagement Mechanism (CSEM). This will help inform CSEM advocacy around global health initiatives in 2019, including the High-Level Meeting.  Deadline: 18 March.

3. Share these opportunities far and wide. 
Most of us can agree that conversations in global health and development have been dominated by the same voices for too long. Help make sure that these opportunities to contribute reach as many people as possible by forwarding this email or posting on social media.

Right now, we do not know for sure what will come out of the High-Level Meeting. What we do know is that we cannot afford to let these deadlines pass us by. Every missed opportunity to demand stronger, more equitable health systems will only contribute to business as usual.
