At its meeting in 2017, the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) decided that the special theme for 2019 will be “Review and appraisal of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development and its contribution to the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”[1]
At its meeting in 2018, the CPD agreed that the General debate that its meeting in 2019 will include consideration of “Actions for the further implementation of the Programme of the International Conference on Population and Development at the global, regional and national levels” in addition to the Review and Appraisal.[2]
The documentation for the General debate will include:
- Report of the Secretary-General on the review and appraisal of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development and its contribution to the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
- Report of the Secretary-General on the monitoring of population programmes, focussing on the review and appraisal of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development and its contribution to the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
- Report of the Secretary-General on the flow of financial resources for assisting in the further implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development
