2017 HLPF Ministerial Declaration: Third reading of the draft MD

As stated below, the second revised draft Ministerial Declaration for the High-level Political Forum and the ECOSOC High-Level Segment has been circulated by the co-facilitators for discussion tomorrow.

In this revised draft, the health paragraph (#15) makes the linkages with sustainable economic growth, social development and environmental protection. It expresses concern at the major challenges remaining including universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services and the need to increase efforts to combat a range of communicable diseases, while recognizing the challenge of antimicrobial resistance. As well as referring to noncommunicable diseases and the importance of health system strengthening, it highlights the need to address the social, economic and environmental determinants of health and of investing in research and innovation.

The co-facilitators of the Ministerial Declaration, the Permanent Representatives of Austria and Jamaica, have circulated a new revised draft version of the 2017 Ministerial Declaration to be adopted at the conclusion of the HLPF. The revised draft is attached to this message.

The reading of this draft will be on Friday 30 June, 10 AM to 1 PM and  3-6 PM in the ECOSOC Chamber. Representatives of Major Groups and Other Stakeholders who would wish to make short and focused interventions during the meeting are invited to sign up using the following link:
