Post-2015: Information about the February negotiating session (17-20 February)

 The following information, concerning the February negotiating session, was received from DESA-DSD and UN-NGLS:

The February session of the intergovernmental negotiations on the post-2015 development agenda will be held from 17-20 February in the Trusteeship Council Chamber to discuss the Declaration component of the agenda. The programme of work and the elements paper for the Declaration are available at: http://bit.ly/2015Declaration-Elements. The preliminary list of side events to be held during the session can be accessed at: http://bit.ly/1DCl6IM.  

DESA DSD and NGLS have created a google doc where Major Groups and other stakeholders can provide their comments and views on the draft elements paper. The submissions received by the end of the day today (13 February) will be summarized by the February Stakeholder Steering Committee for presentation at the February negotiating session. On Thursday, 19 February, there will be an interactive dialogue with representatives of Major Groups and other stakeholders from 10:00am to 1:00pm in the Trusteeship Council Chamber. Following an open call for applications, the February Stakeholder Steering Committee has selected the following 21 speakers to intervene during the dialogue: http://bit.ly/19Feb-Speakers-MGoS . The scenario for the interactive dialogue will be finalized by the February Steering Committee together with the selected speakers and made available on Tuesday, 17 February. 

Similar to the January negotiating session, a total of 12 seats with microphones will be allocated for the use of Major Groups and other stakeholders on a rotational basis in the Trusteeship Council Chamber. Six of these seats will be for use by representatives of Major Groups and six for the representatives of the February Steering Committee. Additional seating for representatives of Major Groups and other stakeholders will be available in the balcony area of the Trusteeship Council Chamber. All meetings will also be webcast at http://webtv.un.org/. The proceedings on Tuesday, 17 February, can also be followed in the overflow room, which is conference room 4. We do not yet have confirmation about an overflow room for the other days but will keep you posted.

Finally, room S-2726 (located on the 27th floor of the Secretariat building) has been reserved for daily caucus meetings of Major Groups and other stakeholders. The room is available Tuesday-Thursday from 9:00 am to 6:00pm, and Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. It can be reserved for use through the following link: http://bit.ly/17-20Feb-Room-Reserve

Daily coordination meetings for Major Groups and other stakeholders Wednesday-Friday 9:00-9:45am

All stakeholders are welcome to join daily caucusing meetings from 9:00-9:45am in Room 2726 UN Secretariat Building

On Wednesday, 18 February, at the start of this meeting, Mr. Nikhil Seth, Director of the UN DESA Division for Sustainable Development, will provide an update for stakeholders about the post-2015 process.

The UNDP Post-2015 Team, UN Millennium Campaign and World We Want 2015 invite stakeholders to a training on the use of new data mining and visualization tools on the www.WorldWeWant2015.org web platform. This platform showcases more than 2 years of UN and civil society consultations and related civil society reports that have contributed to the evolution of the post-2015 development agenda.
