The following information for nominations for the Regional Meeting for Latin America and Caribbean for Inter-Governmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing has been received from Anita Nayar, UN-NGLS:

The Inter-Governmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing (ICESDF) will be holding a regional meeting for Latin America and the Caribbean in Santiago, Chile, on 14-15 January 2014. The meeting is organized by the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and will be in two parts:

  • An expert meeting on 14 January;
  • An outreach session with non-state actors on 15 January.

Non-state actors can attend both sessions, but will be able to intervene from the floor only on 15 January.

ECLAC has requested from the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) a list of non-state actors from the region to whom it would send official invitations.

Please reach out this call for nominations to your constituencies in the region and submit your proposals to UN-NGLS no later than 27 December to the following email: SDFSC@un-ngls.org

Criteria for nominations are the following:

  • Be from the Latin American and Caribbean region (and able to communicate fluently in Spanish and/or English)
  • Be an expert on finance and development/sustainable development issues (with a two line description of their specific area of expertise)
  • Gender balance
  • Confirmed ability to participate
  • Confirmed ability to finance their travel to and accommodation in Santiago (as no funds are available from the secretariat)

The final list of non-state participants will receive more details on the substantive and logistical arrangements on the meeting directly from ECLAC.

Best regards,
Anita Nayar, UN-NGLS
