1 Registration [New Update]

Registration is now open for the 2019 HLPF.

Click here to access the HLPF 2019 homepage and select the ‘Registration and Info’ tab in the blue navigation bar.

Click here for the Information Note for Participants. The ‘Preparation’ tab has presentations, webinars and further information on engaging with the HLPF in the past.

Deadline to register: 15 June 2019

The HLPF Registration pages have been updated and address registration in response to the following questions:

• Does your organization have ECOSOC Consultative Status?

• Is your organization on the CSD Roster?

• What if your organization does not have ECOSOC Status and is not on the CSD Roster?

Important: I am aware that certain organizations that are accredited with ECOSOC Consultative Status and their Conference Focal Points are having difficulty accessing the management point portal to approve their colleagues’ registration applications.

I also appreciate how pressing this issue is for those travelling to UNHQ in July. I am currently in contact with Indico to try to resolve the problem. I will send an update as soon as this issue is resolved.

Some Conference Focal Points have had success after reviewing the attached Indico guides and identifying errors when they signed up for Conference Focal Point designation.

3 SDG Summit & HLPF Political Declaration – Share your input

On 24 and 25 September 2019, the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will meet at summit level under the auspices of the General Assembly to review the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The General Assembly decided in 2013 that the meeting will result in a concise negotiated political declaration to be submitted for the consideration of the Assembly.

The questions below are provided to help guide the contributions of stakeholders and will be summarized and brought to the attention of the Co-Facilitators.

5 Paragraph 89 Reports – A/RES/70/1

As we all prepare for the 2019 High-Level Political Forum, DESA would like to remind you of the reports you are invited to prepare on Major Groups and other Stakeholders’ contributions to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda as stipulated in paragraph 89 of the 2030 Agenda (A/RES/70/1).

Please find more information on the nature of these reports below:

Reports can be submitted on behalf of an organization, constituency, partnership, etc., and should address initiatives contributing to the implementation of the SDGs;

  • Reports are not official documents and are published on the HLPF website in their original language;

  • There is no word count for the reports and they are received and published on a rolling basis. A proposal for voluntary common guidelines for MGoS to report to the HLPF on their implementation of the 2030 Agenda can be found here. This document was produced by MGoS as the outcome of an Expert Group Meeting entitled HLPF 2016: Shaping the reporting by Major Groups and Other Stakeholders on their contribution to the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda;

  • The reports are posted on the HLPF website under the “inputs” tab.

While we receive these reports on a rolling basis, we encourage you to submit your inputs by 1 June to most effectively feed into the 2019 HLPF. Please submit the reports to hlpf@un.org and CC tomos.roberts-harry@un.org with the subject line “Paragraph 89 report by MGoS [Insert the name of your constituency/ organization]”
