The Office of the President of the UN General Assembly has requested UN-NGLS to facilitate a process with the global public to provide questions that can be asked to candidates during the 12 July Global Townhall event. UN-NGLS has also been conducting this process for the UN General Assembly informal dialogues with candidates that have taken place over the past few months and that will continue to be held if further candidates are presented. If you have previously submitted a question via the UN-NGLS process, you do not need to submit it to us again.

See the questions asked of individual candidates via this process so far, and the candidates' responses here.

See the 10 questions that all candidates are asked to answer from this process, posted on the President of the General Assembly's website.

View all questions submitted here.

How are the questions selected?

UN-NGLS facilitates a civil society Committee to short-list questions from those received, to submit to the PGA. The Office of the PGA chooses some of the short-listed questions to used during the UN General Assembly dialogues and the Global Townhall event, bearing in mind regional and gender balance, and diversity of issues relevant to the role of the UN Secretary-General.

Submit your questions for the candidates in writing or video by 6 July!
