First review of draft NGO Position Paper for HLPF 2016

The following email has been received from Jeffery Huffines, CIVICUS:

TO UN DESA NGO MAJOR GROUP & OTHER STAKEHOLDERS

Like last year, the nine major groups and other stakeholders have been invited to submit position papers related to the theme of this year's HLPF "Ensuring that no one is left behind" to be compiled, translated into the 6 official UN languages, and issued as a formal document at the 2016 HLPF. Each paper is to consist of no more than 2,800 words due by Monday, 25 April 2016.

Each submission will be accompanied by a list of organizations that have contributed to its preparation, so we invite as many NGOs as possible to comment on the following draft paper, prepared by the NGO MG OPs, by Friday, 15 April, 6:00 pm EDT NY. We will then circulate a second draft of the paper by the week of 18 April for further endorsement to be submitted to UN DESA/DSD by 25 April.

  • The draft NGO MG paper may be found here.

In addition to the above official position papers, the UN DESA/DSD secretariat is also happy to make available additional background documents that are related to the 2016 HLPF theme for posting on the sustainable development knowledge platform in the original language received. There is no word count on such background documents.
