UN-NGLS Consultation begins on Post-2015 Development Agenda

The UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) has announced a consultation they are facilitating, at the request of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General, to gather critical analysis from civil society on the post-2015 development agenda. The consultation has been launched and will solicit input on four reports submitted to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. These reports are: 

1. High-level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda (Post-2015 HLP)
2. UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) - Release expected in mid-June
3. UN Global Compact (UNGC) - Release expected in mid-June
4. UN Development Group (UNDG) - Release expected in August

The HLP report is now open in English, and will open on 3 June in Spanish, French and Arabic.

High-level Panel of Eminent Persons (HLP) on the Post-2015 Development Agenda Report

The consultation will open for analysis of the three additional reports as they are released. The deadline for submissions on the reports by the Post-2015 HLP, SDSN and UNGC is 12 July 2013, but contributors are asked to respond as soon as possible to best support advocacy efforts. The deadline for submissions on the UNDG report will be one week after the report is released.

The consultation will also include a series of teleconferences with regional and sub-regional civil society networks from the global South.

Findings from the UN-NGLS consultation will be delivered to the UN Secretary-General, Heads of State and Government attending the 68th session of the UN General Assembly, and the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (OWG on SDGs). The consultation will further inform a day of dialogue between civil society organizations and Member States on 22 September, ahead of the UN General Assembly Special Event on the Millennium Development Goals on 25 September.

UN-NGLS will produce a detailed synthesis report that will focus on concrete proposals from civil society for the post-2015 development agenda, emphasizing alternative views to those contained within the four UN reports under review in this consultation. The UN-NGLS synthesis report will also highlight regional perspectives from the global South on the four reports.
