Special Event towards achieving the MDGs
Friday, June 28, 2013 at 10:53PM Governments under the leadership of the Co-chairs, the Permanent Representatives of South Africa and Ireland, held open consultations in New York on 24 June on the zero draft of the Outcome document for the Special Event towards achieving the MDGs, to be held on 25 September 2013.
The zero draft contains strong wording on maternal mortality including sexual and reproductive health and rights. It will be important to see whether this is retained in the next version, which should be available next week.
In addition to the Synthesis Report that the NGLS will compile from the inputs into its consultation on the High-Level Panel Report, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Report, the Global Compact Report and UNDG Report (The Global Conversation Begins), it will be organizing a day of dialogue between CSOs and Member States on 22 September in advance of the Special Event.
