Open Application Process for FP 2020 Working Groups
Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 7:35PM Family Planning 2020 has announced that it is inviting individuals to apply now to serve either on a FP2020 Working Group or on a FP2020 Consultative Network to the Core Working Groups.
The application process opened on Friday, March 29 and closes on Tuesday, April 16.
All FP2020 Working Groups will consist of two co-leads and a core membership of 10-18 individuals representing a wide range of stakeholders and expertise.
Working Group: Participation in the Core Working Groups is on an unpaid volunteer basis and members are required to give 10% of their time (approximately four hours per week) over a two-year term. Three Core Working Groups are currently accepting applications for membership:
- Country Engagement Working Group;
- Rights and Empowerment Working Group; and
- Performance Monitoring and Accountability Working Group
Consultative Network to the Working Groups: Each Working Group also has an affiliated consultative network of stakeholders who will be engaged periodically for input. The Consultative Group members will be asked to participate a few hours approximately twice a year. Everyone is accepted into the consultative group and it is unpaid. Anyone who is interested may sign up to be a part of the consultative network

Country Engagement Core Working Group
The Country Engagement Working Group seeks to work with existing partners to provide additional support to countries as they develop, implement, and monitor progress against their transformational family planning plans, building on existing country plans wherever possible, and within the context of countries’ wider RMNCH and health sector plans.
Performance, Monitoring & Accountability Core Working Group
The Performance, Monitoring & Accountability Working Group seeks to a) monitor and evaluate progress towards the goal of ensuring that girls’ and women’s rights to voluntary contraception are respected and promoted; and b) strengthening accountability for implementing financial, policy, and programming commitments made by country governments, donors, the UN, civil society and others.
Rights & Empowerment Core Working Group
The Rights & Empowerment Working Group seeks to 1) Ensure that all FP2020 efforts are underpinned by a rights-based approach and that women’s and girl’s perspectives and rights are observed in all programs and activities; 2) Support the development of approaches to address the full range of barriers that prevent and limit women’s and girls’ ability to make reproductive decisions/choices for modern methods of family planning and to act on these decisions; and 3) Help guide the on-going research and implementation agenda for rights and empowerment in family planning programs and services. Rights & Empowerment will work closely with the three other Working Groups to provide advice, materials, information, research, examples of good practice and other inputs, including on indicators that will strengthen their work.
