Tier classification
The global indicator framework comprised 93 tier I indicators, 66 tier II indicators and 68 tier III indicators at 1 December 2017. There were also five indicators that were classified in multiple tiers, ie different components were classified in different tiers.
There has been significant progress from April 2017 when there were 84 indicators classified as tier III.
During the 7th meeting of the IAEG-SDGs the following indicators were re-classified:

Indicator 3.8.1 Coverage of essential health services… from tier III to tier II
Indicator 5.1.1 Whether or not legal frameworks are in place to promote, enforce and monitor equality and non-discrimination on the basis of sex from tier III to tier II
Indicator 6.3.2 Proportion of bodies of water with good ambient water quality from tier III to tier II
Indicator 6.6.1 Change in the extent of water-related ecosystems over time from tier III to tier II
Indicator 14.6.1Progress by countries in the degree of implementation of international instruments aiming to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing from tier III to tier II
Indicator 14.b.1 Progress by countries in the degree of application of a legal/regulatory/policy/institutional framework which recognizes and protects access rights for small-scale fisheries from tier III to tier II
