Two Days of Interactive Thematic Sessions @ G-STIC 2017

The G-STIC 2017 conference aims to accelerate the development, dissemination and deployment of technology innovations that enable the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). On October 23 & 24, G-STIC 2017 will showcase how integrated ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) solutions can make a difference to achieve the SDGs, especially solutions developed in a collaborative manner and providing opportunities for sustainable lifestyles.

ICT will be crucial in delivering the SDGs. The interaction of ICT with other sectors creates many opportunities for innovation in health, education, mobility, production systems, water, climate, cities, etc. All these solutions will contribute hugely to achieving the SDGs and climate goals.

It is however, important, to take the human factor into consideration. Using co-design and with a focus on usability, even better integrated solutions for people’s sustainable lifestyles will be created. The sessions of the cross-cutting theme of ICT enabling sustainability will feature speakers and examples from many countries around the world, who will:

1. Give an overview of how ICT can enable implementation of all SDGs, as demonstrated by global reports, including the ITU’s Fast forward progress: leveraging tech to achieve the global goals, and the Global e-Sustainability Initiative's #SystemTransformation and #SMARTer2030.
2. Discuss how to achieve ICT-enabled impact and sustainable lifestyles that are inclusive and gender-sensitive; including end-users, consumers and citizens in the equation, to develop products and services that help them achieve the SDGs.
3. Take a closer look at how the private sector is developing integrated SDG solutions, including a specific focus on smart water solutions. Companies will present their ideas, good practices and innovations.
4. See how Living Labs as user-centered, open innovation ecosystems based on a systematic user-co-creation approach can bring stakeholders - industry, government, research institutions, consumers/citizens - together to collaboratively develop integrated SDG solutions. ENoLL will showcase six examples of Living Labs from Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.
