This is a reminder that this is the last week to register to attend the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III), 15-20 October in Quito, Ecuador. Any individual can register online before 1 October 2016 to participate. Please see the full program schedule online here

Accreditation at the Conference

Kindly note that no form of accreditation is required to attend the Habitat III Conference. Only the Plenary Meeting and the High-Level Roundtable requires accreditation; but all other events, including Side Events, Networking Events, Parallel Events, Stakeholders Roundtables, Training Events, Assemblies, the Habitat Village, the Exhibition, and many more, do not require any form of accreditation.

For those organizations with accreditation (via ECOSOC, as well as organizations accredited through Habitat II, through the Habitat III preparatory committees, and through the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit 2015) that wish to have “accredited stakeholder” badges in order to have access to the Plenary Meeting and the High-Level Roundtables, if space allows, and in order to be eligible to apply to make a statement in the Plenary, must submit a delegation letter from the organization to Habitat3Conference@un.org signed by the head of organization or authorizing officer, by 1 October 2016.

Expression of interest to make a statement in the Plenary

Please note that having accreditation does not guarantee your organization a slot to speak in the Plenary. Kindly also note that no applications to make statements will be accepted unless approved in advance. Observing organizations may (upon the invitation of the presiding officer of the body concerned, and subject to the approval of the Conference) be invited to make oral statements on questions in which they have special competence or knowledge. However, if the number of requests is too large, the non-governmental organizations will be requested to form themselves into constituencies and speak through spokespersons.

Requests for speaking slots in the Plenary sessions may be sent to Habitat3Stakeholders@un.org with full details of the name of the requested speaker and the accreditation details of the organization (including year of accreditation), as well as information about the subject of the intended statement/ comment. If a representative from your organization is requesting to make a statement, please also ensure that you have sent your letter of delegation to Habitat3Conference@un.org by 1 October 2016. We invite you to sign up for the Habitat III newsletter for frequent updates and visit Habitat3.org for more information.

Thank you. We look forward to deciding the future of cities together in Quito!

Kind regards,

The Habitat III Secretariat
