While there is a hiatus in the negotiations on the resolution on review and follow-up of the 2030 Agenda at the global level, the co-facilitators for the informal consultations on the Ministerial Declaration for the 2016 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) have circulated a key elements paper for the declaration. The consultations will begin tomorrow, Thursday 16 June from 15.00 to 18.00. On the basis of inputs a draft will be circulated to Member States on 20 or 21 June, with meetings on 23 and 24 June to hear comments and ‘informal informals’ on 27 and 28 June.

The elements paper says that the declaration will include paragraphs on the theme for the 2016 HLPF of ensuring that no one is left behind and 17 SDGs. There will also be paragraphs as to “where we are in year one,” based on the Secretary-General’s SDG Progress report, as well as those on the national voluntary reviews and regional reviews.

On the involvement of Major Groups and other Stakeholders (MGoS), the elements paper reiterates the importance of partnership with MGoS and their “inclusiveness and involvement at all levels and encouragement to present how they are contributing to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.”
