The Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goal Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) has compiled the results of the online consultation aiming at the refinement of ten selected indicators in the proposed global indicator framework for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (See: Open Consultation on Possible Refinements to the Global Indicator Framework for the SDGs). It included possible refinements to indicators under SDGs 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, and 16.

Target 3.8 -- Indicator 3.8.2 Possible refinement: “Proportion of the population with large household expenditures (e.g. greater than 25%) on health as a share of total household expenditure or income”

Some 146 replies were received. They included 22 from National Statistical Offices (NSOs), and five from UN Agencies. The rest were from CSOs and Groups, among which there was strong support for the refinement.

Target 3.b -- Indicator 3.b.1 Possible Refinement (2 indicators): “National- and district-level coverage of all vaccines included in the national programme” and “Proportion of health facilities with a defined basket of medicines available”

Twenty NSOs and two agencies responded together with 55 CSOs and groups. These responses are very varied with a large number of additional comments in addition to a fair amount of agreement on the proposed refinements.

Target 5.6 -- Indicator 5.6.2 Possible refinement: “Number of countries with laws and regulation that guarantee women and men aged 15-49 access to sexual and reproductive health care, information and education”

Some twenty NSOs, four agencies and 68 CSOs and Groups commented on this proposed refinement showing a range of views, including supporting the refinement but recommending removing the age restriction. A number of other suggestions were also made.
