We have received the following:

Join us in the 2015 Children’s Summit on the World’s Sustainable Development Goals
20 September 2015, New York, USA

Our world is facing big problems of poverty, injustice, climate change, biodiversity loss, and lack of health, education, food and water for children. World leaders have drafted new global Sustainable Development Goals to try to protect the environment, realise human rights and promote development. They will agree on these Sustainable Development Goals at a special meeting of the United Nations in New York in September 2015.

This new global agenda will have an important impact on children and future generations, so WE must be part of the solution!

We, the child authors of the United Nations / Voices of Future Generations International Children’s Book Series, invite any and all children of the world to help us draft a 2015 Children’s Declaration on the World’s Sustainable Development Goals.

We plan to finaliseour Children’s Declaration at a special Children’s Summit on the World’s Sustainable Development Goals on 20 September 2015 in New York and present it to senior decision-makers and world leaders of the United Nations and beyond.

We need to hear YOUR ideas on how we, as children, can raise our voices to save the planet and promote better access to our rights, and how we can contribute to make the world’s Sustainable Development Goals happen on the ground.

How to Contribute Your Ideas as a Voice of Future Generations:

Step 1: Visit our website voicesoffuturegenerations.org and tell us about yourself!

Step 2:Read the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals in this link. Which Sustainable Development Goal interests you the most?

Answer these three key questions
:

  1. Why is this global SDG important for children?
  2. What can we as children do to help the world meet this SDG?
  3. What other ideas can I share to shape the Children’s Declaration, towards children’s rights, climate justice and sustainability?

* If you are really interested in more than one SDG, you can simply fill out the questionnaire more than once, for each SDG that interests you!

Step 4: Send in any other ideas!

Send an email to Ms Carissa Wong, Project Coordinator, and Ms Vuyelwa Kuuya, Programme Manager, using the following email address: voiceschildren@cisdl.org.

Make sure you carry out all the steps above too, and use the heading “Children’s Declaration” in your email Subject Line.

Step 5: Join us at the Children’s Summit on the World’s Sustainable Development Goals in New York City on 20 September 2015.

If you can, come to New York on 20 September 2015 and attend the Summit in person, it is being held from 9:30am – 6:00pm at:

The United Nations Secretariat, 405 E 42nd Street, New York, NY 10017.

You can register by email using the email address below. In this one-day special event, through learning circles with leaders, games and artwork, children will become voices of future generations to brainstorms ways that they can help to deliver the SDGs worldwide, and to increase respect for the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Witness the historic moment when children agree the 2015 Children’s Declaration on the World’s Sustainable Development Goals!
