We have received the following from Under One Sky:

Do these three things today - Under One Sky

Dear all,

Thank you again for all of your work getting the word out there on Under One Sky.  The event is turning out to be a tremendous evening, but we need all of you to make it a success! Below are three things you and your organization can do NOW to help us promote. 48 hours may not seem like a lot, but when it comes to mobilizing people it’s plenty of time to build a fantastic crowd. We need a true mass during this people powered event in order to show world leaders just how many people care what happens to these Global Goals. Can’t wait to see you all there!

This Thursday 24 September, we’re asking the people of New York to join us in marking one of the most significant opportunities of our generation to shape the future of people and planet.

The night before world leaders meet in New York to announce the new Global Goals intended to tackle the most urgent issues of our time - poverty, inequality and climate change – we’ll be coming together to ensure they feel the pressure of all of us demanding these goals translate into reality.

And we won’t be alone. People will be coming together in over 100 countries to demonstrate their shared vision for a better future – from Australia to India, South Africa to Brazil – millions will take action around the world.

All this action will culminate in New York at the “Under One Sky event – at 6pm on Thursday at Dag Hammarskjold Park and the surrounding streets near the UN.

It will be an inspiring night featuring a range of globally-recognized speakers, energizing musical performances and a spectacular light show which will bring the voices of the millions of people taking action around the world campaigning for change right to the door of decision- makers in New York.

Hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist, Amna Nawaz, this high energy show will see speakers from across continents and generations set out their message for change. Featuring a keynote address from world-renowned advocate for women and children’s rights Graça Machel, and short speeches from supermodel, musician and campaigner, Karen Elson, youth advocates from Girl Hub, Save the Children, AFL-CIO and People’s Climate Movement and a special address from Archbishop Barreto echoing Pope Francis’ message to us all – each speaking to our core issues of poverty, inequality and climate change. Our audience will even be getting a very special ‘pep talk’ from Kid President!

The event will also feature musical performances and acts from Ghanaian musician and activist, Rocky Dawuni, environmental hip-hop artist and youth activist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez  or “Kid Warrior” – culminating in a performance by PS22 Chorus of the world premiere of a sensational new song ‘One Candle’, a unifying and anthemic call to action written and performed by J. Ralph and Sia for the soundtrack to the upcoming documentary ‘Racing Extinction’ as well as the entire global awareness movement.

Our audience will be left dancing in the streets and our leaders will be left with our rallying cry ringing in their ears that these Global Goals are our goals and we will be holding them accountable until they are delivered!

We hope you’ll be able to join us – it promises to be an extraordinary evening!
