As reported by the IISD, the road map and programme of work for the preparatory process for the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD) have been updated by the co-facilitators, George Talbot (Guyana) and Geir Pederson (Norway), following consultations with Member States on 17 October 2014.
As stated in the new documents there will be three informal substantive sessions that will address: The Global Context (10 November); Mobilization and effective use of resources (11-13 November); and Enabling environment, systemic issues, follow-up process and learning from partnerships (9-12 December).
There will then be an informal interactive hearing with civil society and the business sector (January 2015), regional consultations to be held by the UN Regional Commissions, and a series of three drafting sessions on the outcome document of the Conference, in January, April and June 2015.
As included in the letter from the co-facilitoators, arrangements to support the participation of delegates from developing countries are being finalized by the Financing for Development Office (FfDO) of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).
The co-facilitators will provide background notes with further details of the sessions in advance of the next session.
