The report of the UN Secretary General’s High Level Panel on the post-2015 agenda recommends five major ‘transformations’ that can inform the global development agenda in 2015. This includes a commitment to end extreme poverty; to ensure sexual and reproductive health and rights; to integrate social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainable development and to ensure that peace and effective governance are at the heart of all development efforts.
The report also provides an illustrative framework to inform the process and calls for a ‘universal agenda’ that applies to all countries.
Moving forward, the success of a shared global agenda will be determined by, among other factors, the extent to which local, national and regional priorities are reflected in the post-2015 debate.
The proposed conversation accordingly aims to amplify the discussions being held in the Caribbean region through a review of the High Level Panel report and an assessment of how its recommendations relate to the outcomes of regional deliberations including the Caribbean Forum (March 2013) and recently concluded Preparatory Meeting for the Third International Conference on SIDS (July 2013).
We encourage you to send your questions in advance of the call to the moderator. Please write to: yperez@ippfwhr.org, with “HLP Report Caribbean Dialogue” as the subject line.
