As reported on Post-2015 Policy and Practice, the UN Intergovernmental Committee of Experts for Sustainable Development Financing (ICSDF) held an interactive multi-stakeholder dialogue during its second session in New York from 2-6 December 2013.

In reporting on the work of the Committee, Co-Chair Pertti Majanen said that the Committee had begun to address substantive issues. He also announced that a joint meeting is planned with the Open Working Group in early March. The Committee would, however, continue to hold closed sessions.

The Committee is strongly committed to dialogue with stakeholders. The Secretariat is working on principles for engagement and the Co-Chairs will send invitations to stakeholders for concrete input. Outreach activities are planned by the regional economic commissions to take place in Latin America in mid-January 2014, in Africa in the spring, and in Finland in April, with a focus on private sector involvement. A steering committee has been established by the stakeholders and selects the co-chairs for multi-stakeholder dialogues.

Those responding to the briefing included Aldo Caliari, Finance and Trade Cluster of civil society organizations, Bhumika Muchhala, Finance and Development Programme, Third World Network (TWN) and Women's Major Group, and Barbara Samuels II, Executive Director & Founder, Global Clearinghouse for Development Finance; Vice Chair of the UN Business Steering Committee on Financing for Development, also made comments from the panel.
