Third High Level Panel (HLP) meeting on the Post 2015 Development Agenda, Monrovia, Liberia – 28 to 30 January 2013

Beyond 2015 has provided information on CSO participation for the Third High Level Panel (HLP) meeting on the Post 2015 Development Agenda in Monrovia, Liberia, 28 to 30 January 2013.

Consultations with CSOs are being jointly organized by the Africa-wide post-2015 Working Group and the Liberian CSO post-2015 Working Group; working in partnership with Beyond 2015, the UN HLP Secretariat Outreach desk, the UN SG Secretariat, and representatives from other southern CSO networks.

The objectives of the HLP outreach consultations with CSOs will be to:

The following meetings are planned:

(i) CSO Preparatory Meeting, 28th and 29th January 

This will be an open consultative forum where CSO representatives from all over the world will discuss National Building Blocks for Sustained Prosperity as they relate to the post-2015 development agenda.  It will provide a platform for CSOs to share regional perspectives on the theme and its sub-themes; as well as develop common positions on the framing questions presented by the High Level Panel on Economic Transformation.

(ii) CSO Town Hall meeting, 30th January, 11h00

This meeting will be held between all members of the HLP and sixty CSO representatives, on the 30th January 2013, at 11h00 for one hour.  It will take the format of a "town hall" event, where CSO members together with grassroots representatives will share evidence, perspectives, and recommendations on the topic of National Building Blocks for Sustained Prosperity and it's sub-themes.   This will serve as a framing conversation, also giving critical clarity to the vision and aspirations of ordinary citizens for the future.

(iii) CSO Roundtable Discussions, 30th January, 12h00

The CSO Roundtable Discussions will be held between all members of the HLP and sixty CSO representatives, on the 30th January 2013, at 12h00 for one hour, thirty minutes.  There will be four roundtables with a maximum of twenty participants each (15 CSO representatives and 3-5 HLP members).  The four roundtables will take place with specific marginalized groups, i.e. children and youth; women and gender; the disabled and aged; and small businesses, farmers, traders, and trade unions.  

The lead agency for each roundtable are as follows, each supported by the relevant UN agency (UNFPA, UNMC, UNICEF, UN Women, UNDP, UNNGLS):-
