The consultation on hunger, food and nutrition security has started and will run until March 2013. It is co-chaired by FAO and WFP, together with the other Rome-based agencies, IFAD and Bioversity International, and with support of Dr. David Nabarro, Special Representative of the SG for Food Security and Nutrition. Contributing partners include UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, UNIDO, and UNDESA.
The e-consultation up to 21 December 2012 is focused on three themes on key lessons learned and challenges and opportunities; what works best and current initiatives; and objectives, targets and indicators for the post-2015 global development framework. There will be a consultation with the stakeholders of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), in late January/early February 2013; and a high level experts consultation in March 2013, hosted by the Government of Spain.
The e-consultation for Governance is being run in two phases over the course of four weeks (19 November 2012 to 14 December 2012) and will ultimately feed into the final multi-stakeholder governance consultation, slated to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa at the end of February 2013.
Phase I (19 November – 2 December) is reflecting on lessons that have emerged about the role of governance in the achievement and sustainability of the MDGs and other international development goals. The overall guiding question of this phase of the e-Discussion is: What should be the governance building blocks for a post-2015 agenda?
A Sub-Regional Parliamentarian and Civil Forum on MDG Acceleration and the Post-2015 Development Agenda: South, Southwest, Central Asian Parliamentarian and CSO Forum is scheduled to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 10-11December 2012.
A global thematic consultation on growth and employment in the post-2015 development agenda took place in Tokyo, on 15-16 May 2012, co-organized by UNDP and ILO and hosted by the Government of Japan. It focused on growth, structural transformation and employment and brought together about 80 participants from research and academia, civil society, governments, trade unions, private sector, and international organizations from around the world. The global thematic consultation on water is co-ordinated by UN Water and UNICEF and will allow for a global and open discussion on all aspects of water with three sub-consultations on WASH, Water Resources Management and Wastewater and Water Quality. (See website for further information)
